Portland Oregon protesters put into chokeholds by federal agents


January 25th at 8:54PM two protesters were apprehended at the back gate of Portland Oregon US immigration and customs enforcement. Seemingly completely peaceful according to local protesters and myself catching this on camera.

Exclusive interview with the individuals apprehended read as follows.

“i was sitting down right there [gestures to the back gate grass patch] and they ran out while my back was turned, and they grabbed me, put me in a chokehold, dragged me up onto the sidewalk, and then he said [referring to the ice agent who grabbed her.] ‘no not this one' and let me go”

-Leilani Payne a pro Palestine activist. This is speculated because she (Leilani Payne) went global last year after being pepper sprayed as a completely peaceful protester on video, not even 5 inches from her face at only 19 years old.

An unnamed protester who was detained also shared her story. Standing at barely 5’4 and in pigtails this is what she said.

“I said ‘what is the right to tackle me?’ I don't even know how many men were on me, there was one guy who kept tryna argue with me back and fourth and I literally told him to ‘shut the f*ck up’” - an anonymous protester in Portland Oregon. She also showed me cuts and bruises left from where the officers dragged her. She was released almost 30 minutes later.

From the video footage neither of the women resisted arrest. Four different people were released just from being detained that night.

Multiple rounds of ammunition from tear gas, pepper spray balls and HC gas also known as hexachloroethane was also utilized multiple times throughout the night closer to 9-10PM.

Also including a “prop65” warning referring to the official act known as the Safe Drinking Water And Toxic Enforcement Act of 1986, stating in the warning “This product can expose you to chemicals including Lead Salts, Methylene Chloride and Hexavalent Chromium, which are known to the State of California to cause cancer, and Lead Salts, which are known to the State of California to cause birth defects or other reproductive harm.”

Nov.6 8:47 pm An up-close photo of ICE agents' faces outside the Portland, Oregon, U.S immigration and customs enforcement building in downtown Portland. This is an unusual occurrence, as the agents go to great lengths to cover their faces, but this was a fairly small protest of maybe 20–35 people. When a protester mentioned, “You guys are very brave to show your full face when we are hunting you.” Oct.18 4:31 pm  This was also the day of the second No Kings Protest toward the ending of the night. Nov,6th outside of US immigration and customs enforcement in Portland Oregon. Officers came out in response to less than 20 protesters no teargas was administered that night thankfully.  A close up shot of the same officers from the first photo.  I asked this construction worker at 9:08 pm if I could take pictures of her after explaining the class project. She gladly accepted, I tried to explain the blog and where she could find it but she said " woah woah woah, I don't know all that technology stuff" so I opted to text them to her instead. She was so so sweet and kind and was so excited I wish I could show her the blog.  I unfortunately don't know much about what happened and why they were there I only saw them for about 20 minutes while door dashing on highway 20 on the way to Philomath. intro for journalism 26

 In a paragraph or two ... or three ... share a bit about yourself (major, career goals, why at LBCC ...) I was majoring in journalism with a minor in criminal justice but as of a recent acceptance to WOU I've switched to a major in criminal justice and a minor in small communications (being a more governmental focus of journalism.) I started LBCC because I had only gotten my GED and not my diploma but with more recent and better grades western Oregon has been happy to have me. As to why I chose my major I was going to do psyc before I decided on journalism but I decided the psychiatric industry and the private prison industrial complex was far too bureaucratic and unethical for my taste or to have a long term career in. I also, for a short amount of time, considered beauty school for barbering and nails but fun act you actually need more training to be a barber or nail artist than to be a police officer. in school being a mandatory 40-55 hrs weekly with almost no room for mistakes...
